As a sophomore in high school still unsure of what career path to pursue, Ana Giddings made the decision to enroll in the GA CATT Program. That was three years ago. Today, she is recognized as the first ever African American female to graduate from the program and receive certification from the Association of German Chambers of Commerce (DIHK) in the field of Production Engineering, a title that was not handed to her, but rather one she earned through her extreme hard-work and determination.
Eager to begin his career in a technical field, Dustin Hewell made the decision to start his apprenticeship in the summer of 2019. Dustin is from Covington, Georgia, attended East Side high school in his hometown and was enrolled at Georgia Piedmont Technical college for his three-year apprenticeship. After a few interviews and introductions, he took a position as a Technician with Verescence, a glass products manufacturer located in Covington.
August of 2019 marked the beginning of Yannick Christein’s three-year apprenticeship with Nesper International, a metal products manufacturer serving the automotive and electronics industries. Conveniently located in Yannick’s hometown of LaGrange, Georgia, Nesper was the perfect spot to start on-the job-training while finishing his studies at Troup High School. The following fall, Yannick enrolled at West Georgia Technical College where he earned his Associate’s degree in Science and Engineering.
